WHY CHOOSE A MOM SUPPORT GROUP?
As we are in the trenches of motherhood, days can be long, isolating, and filled with self- doubt. The goal of our Mom Support Groups is to create a tight knit community of moms who meet weekly to support and help each other during their motherhood journey.
WHAT IS A MOM SUPPORT GROUP?
Our Mom Support Groups bring moms together to facilitate peer support and connection. These weekly meetings are a time for moms to share their personal experiences and feelings with others, and build community through peer-to-peer support.
IS A MOM SUPPORT GROUP THE SAME AS GROUP THERAPY?
A support group is not a replacement for therapy. Group therapy follows a set curriculum introducing therapeutic skills, whereas our support groups are a place where moms can lean on each other for support with a licensed facilitator present.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR EACH SESSION?
For each session, our Mom Support Group will join together virtually on a set date and time. One of our Happy as a Mother Mom Therapists will facilitate and guide the session. Each week will have a theme to lead our discussion such as building a support system, communication with partner/loved ones, identity shift, body image, setting boundaries, and more.
WHAT IF I AM NERVOUS TO JOIN A SUPPORT GROUP?
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK? CAN I SUBMIT FOR BENEFITS REIMBURSEMENT?
The one-time session fee is due upon registration and it covers the entire 8-week session. Group support is not a therapy service and therefore is not eligible for benefits reimbursement.
HOW BIG WILL MY GROUP BE?
We have limited spots available and will cap each group at 15-20 moms.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IF I DO NOT RESIDE IN CANADA?
For our Fall 2022 session, our Mom Support Groups are only available for moms who reside in Canada.
We plan to expand in the future. If you are interested in joining our Winter 2023 session, please join our waitlist so you can be the first to be notified when registration opens.
WHO WILL BE THE FACILITATOR?
Our Mom Support Group is led by one of our Happy as a Mother mom therapists. Every single member of our team has experience and training in maternal mental health and it is their passion to support moms during the postpartum period.
